For this commercial addition, more office space was needed to enhance its functionality. We increased the building’s footprint by adding 3 offices, a bathroom, and a kitchenette.
With every addition, it’s important to make it look like it was always there and the finish is seamless. To ensure this, the design needed to be integrated continuously with the existing office structure while meeting building codes, safety regulations, and zoning laws. This building is zoned residential and commercial space, so the zoning laws had to be met for both. Adhering to specific building codes requires careful planning and attention to detail.
We had to carefully plan the separation between all windows and doors for this addition and come up with a fire plan, as this is essential for a commercial build. Consulting with fire safety professionals and local authorities helped provide valuable guidance in creating an effective fire plan for this commercial space.
Once the plan was established, all permits were in, and codes were met it was smooth sailing from there. We helped our clients enhance the interior and exterior of the building, with our experienced carpenters and in-house electricians, by using proper lighting, careful planning, and creating harmony between the building’s original structure and the addition.
